Beatles Rock Band
Finally, a newer game for those of us whose proficiency stopped with the joystick-and-one-button Atari 2600. Besides being a real treat for Beatles fans (you play through the Beatles' career) its easiest mode is "no fail". I'm not a great musician but it's a real hoot to play the drums on these songs, and I liked strapping on the replica Macca bass to wing it through some songs. Vocals...well, I'm sure I'll get better. We had fun as a family playing and watching so that's saying something. We didn't have any previous versions of Rock Band so I bought the premium kit. If you already have the instruments it's definitely worth buying the game. I haven't gotten the remastered recordings yet, but I will. I could only afford one thing at a time and I've lived with the original CDs this long that I can wait until Christmas and my birthday!

Re: Beatles Rock Band
A friend once presented me with a 78 RPM record cut from MP3s of two songs I had performed.
He went to the trouble of creating vintage-style labels from two different imaginary recording companies. One was 1920ish and one was 1950ish. Very plausible-looking.
I believe this was the weirdest gift I ever received. Also the rarest record I own.
(Long before "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band," I was vocalizing Beatles songs the old-fashioned way: I learned to play the ukulele.)

Re: Beatles Rock Band
Wow. Do you possess the technology to play those recordings?
BTW, am I the only one who sees a blank window when clicking on those image links? I use Safari, and I've been getting that behavior with links to images since we went to the new site.

Re: Beatles Rock Band
Being embedded in the Joomla framework makes things a little goofy. I am both waiting for updates to the appware and more information on workarounds so that links can be pointed consistently.
It is a browser thing sometimes, too. But any valid URL pointing to an image file not more than 400 pixels wide should work.

The images show up fine for me. I use Firefox.

Re: Beatles Rock Band
I also am on Safari 4.0.3 and I have the problem.
Separating the code out like that would not evoke the problem. The problem is caused by the code being embedded in the strange thing that the nexus does with frames.

OS X 10.4, and No.
The problem appears to be with image links only. To reproduce it, I go to the 6th post on the first page of this thread and click on either of the images of records. I get a blank window in the browser.
But if I go to Bill's last post above, containing the URL links to the same things, and click on one of those, then it loads the resulting page inside the Nexus frame just fine.

Re: Beatles Rock Band
Interesting. Vista 64 and Firefox - and if I click on the images, I get a blank browser screen. I can "View Image" fine and "Open Link in new Tab" works fine, but a direct click goes astray.

Re: Beatles Rock Band
which brings to mind an incident about 5-6 years ago where one of my 20-something employees was handed a (vinyl) record for the kids to listen to - and she put the needle on the center of the record, having the idea that it played from the inside out.
Was I believe the first time I felt old because of something an adult did.....
