I am disappointed in the changes in the Society website. Why was material taken out ? Can someone in charge explain exactly what I would get if I decided to join the Society. Thank you.

A newsletter, various knick-knacks from time to time, right to vote in AGMs, that kind of thing. I'm sure the leadership would welcome your ideas on what membership should provide; it's something that even people like me on the periphery of the organization have banged our heads on. Casual thought may throw up a few ideas; deeper analysis invariably reveals flaws.

Perhaps I need to clarify my thoughts

The Society website once had all sorts of info that was interesting to read, much of which was dropped when the site was re-designed. I think this change
was not thought out well be Society leadership.

At present I would be more likly go to Jim Giffords RAH site and I would certainly recomend that site over the "official" site.

It was trumpeted awhile back the Society was back and all things would be great. I'm still waiting for the greatness.

I kinda think that all the "missing" files are still there. The home page changed, and the new one doesn't have all the links that the old one did. But if you use the Internet Archive to find an earlier version that still has the links, and click on them, you can get to many of the "missing" files. (I say many, because I haven't checked everything. But everything I checked worked.)

For example, still has many files that you don't seem to be able to access from the current Society home page.

But, if there are files/pages that you particularly like and can still get to from the buried links I describe above, it may be prudent to burn yourself a copy of them. Who knows what plan is with respect to continuing to host them.

(Is Deb Houdek Rule still the webmaster?)

Try posting on the THS Facebook page, Deb reads that all the time.

Webmaster@heinleinsociety.org is the email address for feedback listed on the "Contact" section of the website. I'm sure Deb would welcome knowing what would be useful to general membership, what wouldn't be missed if it were dropped, and any new submissions for useful data or links.

My own feeling about THS is that it supports blood drives and the educational materials and this forum...while these things don't cost a lot, they do cost some.

It would be an interesting exercise for the current board to list a "five year plan" ... I better be careful about what I say because Geo's been looking for an opening to make me more involved! :)
