Spaceport America
Tip of the hat to Jack Kelly for bringing this to my attention on Facebook.
Check out . Is that just a gorgeous piece of architecture or what? It so evokes the classic Heinlein rocket design. It is allegedly "open for business," whatever actual milestone that translates to.
On Google Earth, the spaceport hangar is modeled in 3-D for some added excitement.

Re: Spaceport America
If you build it - they will come. Oops, wrong genre. But...hell yeah! This is sorta kinda what we envisioned when we read Heinlein under the bed covers as tykes.

Re: Spaceport America
I used to sneak out the window and sit on the rock under the streetlight. One of the pleasures of growing up in central California...was eventually caught and had to revert to the flashlight!

Re: Spaceport America
My parents monitored my reading at night pretty well, what I could do was get up early and read. I ended up many days waking at 430-500 with my dad and reading while he got ready to go out and burn the slash piles in the units.
