Saw RED at the first showing today (playing hooky on my birthday). Not perfect, but absolutely great fun. There are one or two spoilers if you've seen the trailers, but I was very pleased that (1) "Back in the Saddle" is not thrown away on a worthless scene and (2) one of the trailer lines is very carefully lampshaded to prevent giving away the major plot twist.
There are also several drops of Bruce Willis film titles - listen for "Losers," "Unbreakable" and a few more woven into the dialogue.

Re: RED
Happy birthday!
While I enjoyed the original comic I was unsure of a movie adaption until Warren started broadcasting "Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle!"
My understanding is that she underwent a full weapons handling training so as to be able to confidently and believably handle the machinery. She was her full unflappable QE2 self behind the HMG, which is simply hilarious in and of itself.

Re: RED
Creative Screenwriting Magazine records the Q&A session of the films they show as part of their special viewing ( or whatever they call it) program.
Some of them are very interesting.
The latest one is for RED and I recommend the Watchmen podcast.
