I think I saw a movie preview of as new Starsuip Troopers. Not like the ^%^&* that has been made in the past.The first one killed me with how it igtnored the powered suits and political themes. This was the WORST adaptation ever made. I thought THE PUPPET, MASTERS was not so bad. In the trailer it shows a soldier suiting up in what appears to be a "POWER SUIT" and being ejected to the planet below. Has anyone else seen this or am I getting  senile.

There is a new Japanese animated movie set in the ST universe, modeled mostly on the first film and (reportedly) some on the Roughnecks series. It's already been released in Japan and Europe. The US DVD is out on the 28th of August. It's R-rated and has fairly good reviews. Not that a "Citizen Kane" set in the ST world would erase the damage done by the Verhoeven turdfest, but it might be worth a look. I enjoyed the Roughnecks series, even if it did end on the biggest imaginable cliffhanger. |

The remake news item at that link is more than 2 years old. I'm still convinced that any ST adaptation that attempts to be "faithful to" the book (per an earlier thread) is doomed. |
