Post subject:  Heinlein 2016: Worldcon in Kansas City

At this year's Worldcon in Spokane, I didn't participate in any Heinlein-related stuff, but I did have a brief conversation with Keith Kato, president of the Heinlein Society.

, will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, during August 17th through 21st, 2016.

Heinlein was born in nearby Butler, Missouri, and spent much of his youth in Kansas City. Furthermore, the last time Worldcon came to Kansas City, in 1976, Heinlein was their Pro Guest of Honor. And in 2007, many of us attended the Heinlein Centennial conference in that city.

Remember being sculpted by E. Spencer Schubert for the Hall of Famous Missourians? . Keith Kato is hoping to hold the public unveiling of the bust at MidAmeriCon II. It will then be moved to Springfield for installation on the third floor of the Missouri State Capitol.

I imagine the con may be considering other Heinlein-related programming. If you've got a suggestion, contact them through the MidAmeriCon Web site. Or we can chew it over here, if you like. I myself am planning to attend.
