...or something. In the intervening time we've lost Sir Arthur, Jeanne Robinson and John Taylor.

I'm afraid the years are hard on us and our friends. Tomorrow is Uncle Robert's 102nd.

And Happy Birthday to Peter, too.

:)

I like Sam Jones' formulation best. "...and Tuesday is usually worse."

It's another 7/7, folks, and I'm just thrilled to be here. <fskronk> That is all.

I quit celebrating birthdays many years ago. I now celebrate surving another years. I won't say my age but I read Green Hills of Earth in the Saturday Evening Post.

But it is VERY fitting that today a private space ship lifted off, orbited the earth 2 times, and landed as planned.
Using new parts and technology, as far I can tell.

Just realized that this year will be the 5th anniversary of the Centennial.

Damn.

Coming up on five years ago today, the product of years of toil and strife condensed into four days of pure joy. There has never been anything like it before, and I doubt there ever will. I tip my hat to all those who made it happen and all those who drank deeply of the water of Heinlein appreciation.

And some of us have almost stopped waking up in a cold sweat about it. :D

It was somethin', though.

Tout ca change ...

The Hyatt is now a Sheraton, and the lobby has been torn to bits for redecoration. Kids (and adults) can't play in the fountain anymore. It's 106 degrees today, and we should be grateful we had such nice weather.

Five years. It was certainly a trip.

So the last remnants of the skywalks are gone, then?

The second story walkway (on pillars) is sstill there -- it was the only route available from check-in to the elevators. Really a bottleneck with that one little elevator by the bar.

Ten years, folks.

I have good memories of the Centennial conference. I met some great people there, renewed some old friendships, and got my start on Heinlein-historical research as well.

And being a part of this online community has been enjoyable.

Thanks again to all you whose efforts made this possible.

Happy 110th, Mr. Heinlein.

Happy 105th, Dr. .

What will the next decade bring?

Thanks to all for a wonderful Conference 10 years ago! To this day, it remains the only sci-fi con I have ever attended, though I'm not proud of that, and very much wish I had attended the ones where The Grandmaster spoke. Ah, well.

Well, beamjockey, PNH did not get his butt out here for the Centennial, but his wife and I had correspondence where she told me that the echoes reached New York about the success of our efforts. Teresa is a wonderful human being.

Meanwhile -- ten years. How did that happen?
