Post Creative landing
Saw in the mainstreeem media a story about a Delta widebody landing on the taxiway instead of the more conventional runway at Atlanta Hartsfield. They quoted the FAA as saying that it had never happened before, which I figured was unlikely, so I went over to PPRUNE to see what they were saying: http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/3930 ... xiway.html . Of course, it has happened before... and more than once at some airports. Interestingly, the pilots there were not coming down on the Delta crew as being idiots, but instead were largely sympathetic. Lots of "me too" stories... including some about planes landing at the wrong airport. Yes, even in the GPS era.

I suppose this isn't the place for the guy who, a few years back, stumbled sleepily onto the third or fourth plane of his flight, heard the overhead announce the flight to Oakland, nodded, then nodded off.

Only to wake up well on the way to Auckland. Yes, folks, SFO is a big airport. Qantas sent him home without charge, albeit grumpily.

Quick, and no Googling, what does "Qantas" mean?
