What words can do justice to someone who stands for the pinnacle of human achievement? All I know is that the acts of the human race since then have not lived up to his legacy.

I doubt the following is true, but it should be:

Armstrong used to tell really lame jokes about the moon.

When people wouldn't laugh, he'd just look at them and say "I guess you had to be there."

Armstrong literally stood on the shoulders of millions who participated or contributed in one way or another in the race to the moon. However, he was the perfect first man on the moon; self-effacing, laconic, humble yet extremely self-confident.

Thank goodness Buzz wasn't able to talk his way into being first. He's insufferable enough as it is. :D
