When people wouldn't laugh, he'd just look at them and say "I guess you had to be there."

Armstrong literally stood on the shoulders of millions who participated or contributed in one way or another in the race to the moon. However, he was the perfect first man on the moon; self-effacing, laconic, humble yet extremely self-confident.

Thank goodness Buzz wasn't able to talk his way into being first. He's insufferable enough as it is.
