Odd Job
One of the oddest jobs I found myself doing for the Centennial was taking pictures. I was in Kansas City, so when someone, in frustration, said that they did not understand about the tubes from hotel to hotel, I went out with John as a passenger, and a camera. I had him take pictures of the Habitrail, and I e-mailed them to the folks out of town. Electrical outlets in the Marketplace? I went into the hotel and photographed outlets in the baseboards. Size of the Autograph area? More pictures.
Then it occurred to me that we had two groups that were going to put this on -- Cell B and Kacsffs, and I was the only one who knew what everyone looked like -- so I took pictures of Cell B and sent them to committee heads, and then took their pictures and sent them to Cell B.
Finally, the hotels asked for pictures of VIPs so they would not offend anyone. I got pictures of all the guests off the web and mailed them to the Hotel. They turned these pictures into a book for their staffs to study -- I got a peek at it one time when I went to get the Westin liason for something. The answer was "Right away!" and she was there really fast.
They also told me that they always ask for pictures of VIPs, and that the Centennial was the first to ever really deliver them.

Re: Odd Job
Perhaps any future Heinlein-related convention should have an official photographer? That sounds like it would be useful.

We had an official photographer. There are about a zillion pictures waiting for Jim to do something with that were taken by the official photographer - and the ones I saw were great!

Re: Odd Job
I should've been clearer -- I meant *before* the actual event. In other words, what Tina did without the title.
