Post END of the ALIEN hidden occupation
This another conundrum I have been thinking about. Yes I am one of those Van Daniken TYPES who strongly believe That the Human Race is not the only or most INTELLIGENT species in the universe. We have had and continue to have intervention from "ALIENS".The fact that we are so far from the projections written by RAH. I feel that if it is a fact that we are under supervision of superior intellectual beings, and they have been here incognito. The ending of the masquerade would be such a COSMIC happening it could be forseeen in the BOOK of revelations, the Mayan Calender and other forecasts that seem to concur that the time span the last 60 years that we are coming to an end. My biggest hope is we are not sbject to a evauation as in "HAVE SPACE SUIT WILL TRAVEL. The human race is like a kindergarten class without a teacher. Adult ethics, morality and justice are terribly missing in the ubermass of what laughingly is called "CIVILIZATION". If you doubt me ---- examine the three greatest HUMAN Accomplishments (fiascos) RELIGION subset sex, Government subset freedom, Medicine subset greed.
 Warning to any parents reading this: See what happens when you let your kids read SCIENCE FICTION !

You don't need to hew to von Daniken to believe in the existence of aliens... somewhere. Just look up the Drake Equation and Occam's Razor. However, the evidence that they have actually visited us remains the sole property of pharmaceutically and genetically challenged members of the extreme rural class. People who actually look at space for a living, or who go there, like NASA, have yet to find anything. And it's not for the want of trying. Speaking as someone who would benefit materially from an E.T. discovery, I assure you that few NASA employees go to bed at night without frequently fantasizing about what such a discovery would do for their careers and finances. They would do everything in their power to facilitate that discovery.

Everything, that is, except compromise their integrity or the scientific method. Which is what separates them from the von Danikenians.

I use the Van Daniken apellation as a convenience. I firmly believe in scientific method and am very cynical about the stupidy of yahoos. BUT I believe in the enormous ability of humans to believe that we are the peak of the intellectual and scientific universe. As when presented by our abilities aborigines are convinced it's magic or GODs.
These aliens certainly have the capacity to lead our best scientific minds down the garden path, as we do with the people we discover on our own little mudball in space. Their powers of manipulation far surpass the powers that we have. One more interesting scientific factor. Why is human scientific progress a hyberbolic curve. The last hundred years our progress slope has increased so drastically ---is it possible some outside agency is working to elevate us to a level that will allow us to acccept them post emerging from their hidden status. :D

 If you think my Masquarade idea was crazy. Here is another of my GEMS. I got this one from Alfred Bester "THE DEMOLISHED MAN" 1954 SIGNENT bOOKS PAGE 67. It is so wonderful now that my collection is out of storage on my library shelves. When I remember something I can go to the source easily. "At the desk the receptionist broadcast on the widest TP band: If you can hear me go through the door on the left marked EMPLOYEES ONLY ".
This an example of a hidden group, this case with power of TELEPATHY. While in this case the public is aware of their existence you only get brought in to HOLY of HOLIES by demonstrating supra normal abilities. GEE, didn't Michael V Smithy do that also in the later days of his TEMPLE. Wonder if RAH got an idea from Al Bester.
What I am Driving at, these aliens I am calling out may have already secretly introduced themselves to some of us homo sapiens. Maybe that accounts for the hyberbolic curve in human science acheivment the last 100 years or so. Ah poor Von Daniken you look into long ago history, when it's happening right now in 20th/21st century.

The telepaths in Demolished Man were not secret; everyone knew they existed and many of the more powerful teeps were well-known figures.

The scene you describe was the telepath guild's screening process. If you were sitting in their waiting room because you wanted to be tested, and you could hear a powerful teep broadcasting at you, they wanted to talk to you and not waste time on forms and questions.

The Psi Corps in B5 was wholly modeled on Bester's telepath stories, down to the lead teep's name.

B5 = Babylon 5. The guild of telepaths (who are mostly bad guys with a covert agenda against normals), called the Psi Corps, are a major part of the story line and use many elements from Bester's works. The chief villain, played by Walter Koenig, is named Alfred Bester.

The reason why is explained in some canonical B5 novels. It's not accidental or meant to be a joke; the author Bester is highly admired as having being prescient about the realities of telepaths, which in the B5 timeline do not appear among humans until about 100 years from now.

No offense meant and with all due respect, when you know as much as you know, does your head ever hurt from the capacity? This blog and members are a fantastic source for me. I forget how I stumbled on it, but I am very glad I have done so. :D
I have loved Science Fiction for so long and yet 80-90% is crap to me. I am so selective in what I have bought it's a wonder I managed to collect so many books. I have narrowed it down to twenty or so authors I will spend my money on. I have always been cheap and bought the paperback or book club editions ,unless they were exstremely awaited. Through the years I have stumbled on some new guys worthwhile like Spider, Dave Gerrold, John Varley, Orson Scott Card, Harry Turtledove. But most the masters were from the first half of the twentith century. Boy did I love Ballantine ,Signet ,Bantam, Dell even ACE, and of course multiple memberships in SCIENCE FICTION BOOKCLUB, to get those new member freebies.
