Good picture showing the house with the second floor added and a number of inside shots.

Floor plan as shown in 2009. (Reflects 1981 renovation, I believe)

Thanks for posting this. They are looking to make a substantial profit, if they get anywhere near their asking price!

It's interesting to see these pictures (and the pictures from several years ago) and then compare them against the PM article to see how little has remained the same.

I obtained all of the house info from the Heinlein Archives, 300 odd pages of it.

From what I have determined, RAH sold the house in 1967 for around $28,000. They started off asking $45,000, but conditions were not right to get that amount in that period, and it was a struggle to get even that much.

Colorado Springs real estate values have shot up in the last thirty years. My brother and his wife own a house about two miles from the Air Force Academy. They paid around $150 K total for land and to build it. Even after the real estate bust a few years ago, Zillow estimates its current value as just under $400 K.

It doesn't surprise me that the Heinlein house is going for more than 50% in excess of the Zillow estimate. I hope that somebody who appreciates its builder gets it.
