Post Leslyn MacDonald manuscript on Ebay
Currently on Ebay:

A manuscript, from Forrest Ackerman's collection, by Leslyn MacDonald. Forry was an agent peddling Leslyn's work.

The title of the 2770-word story is "You Can Search the Wide World Over." At the time it was written, Leslyn was living in Stockton, California.

Stockton would make it post split-up.

Yes, it's more likely to date from 1949-1950 than any earlier. Or - how long did she continue to live in the LA area before moving up to the exciting Central Valley? Didn't she remarry around 1952?

I hope no poor sap buys it thinking it's "really" a lost RAH ms.

Need to be a real hard-core collector to go after this one.

Well, it's above "laundry list" and "scrap of paper with two notes and the heading 'Story Idea'," I guess.

The auction description describe a previously-sold RAH manuscript for $5k. What was that?

I believe the original record is in the UCSC Archives. Unless it got thrown out to save space.

Bill, you have never been so wrong.

Forry Ackerman had the discs. He had them from Walt to make the transcription. There is NO original ms for that speech, other than Forry's transcription. Right before I met Forry, he had loaned the discs to a sound engineer, who made a tape. Forry loaned me a copy of that tape, which I then handed over to the HS, who made the cd.

Now that we have our facts straight, if you've never actually listened to the cd version, there are quite a few transcription errors.

The published version of the speech left out a few things too, the most glaring of which is the role Leslyn made in helping Heinlein write his stories.

Robert

I see the Ebay auction closed 11 February with zero bids on Leslyn's manuscript.
