As a lifelong proponent of "sf" (lowercase and all), I have always been put off by the SciFi Channel's name. Granted, some differentiate the two between literary sf and media sci-fi, and I can live with that. But going to the big public with "Sci-Fi"... bleah. I think it's done nothing to help the cause. (Nor has most of their programming.)

But it's all better now. They're changing their name.

To SyFy. Or maybe Syfy, it's hard to tell from the artsy logo.

You could have at least had the decency to wait until after I finished breakfast to tell me that. I threw up in my mouth a little.

Not that I watch that channel anyway. My girlfriend seems to like it, for some reason, so I am often involuntarily exposed to its content, which consistently validates my choice not to waste time there. Who in the world greenlights those movies?
