In Vino Veritas
Speaking of taking stuff on, Mike Sheffield was a real jewel. I met him for the first time one night when the committee stopped to have a drink together. He was a really nice man -- and of course, being Kansas City local and never having been a member of THS, I knew he was running the blood drive, but I knew nothing else about him.
So I spilled to him various opinions I had about a group that claimed to be a Heinlein Society, but which did its very best not only to ignore The Man's Hundredth Birthday -- but to sabotage and deride those who were going to celebrate *anyway*.
Poor Mike! He said he was very sorry that had happened. And I am sorry that such a gracious and good person was in a position that he felt he had to apologize for the do-nothings.
