Looks like a great idea. There used to be regular reading group chats on AIM and pehaps we could do that here. Does the chat support saving a log?

Yes, it's a somewhat lightweight package but it does support administrative control of logging. The lack of clear documentation for the user and admin slash controls is annoying.

I'd suggest we see if there's a common open hour - say, Sunday evenings at about 6 Pacific? - at which everyone interested can drop by for group chatter. If someone wants to evolve that into focused discussions, we can make that happen.

What am I missing? I can't find any link to the Nexus Chat.

Take a look at the top of the screen under the Nexus logo. Do you have a menu bar that goes "Home.. About... Resources..."? What's on the end?

David, you need to be in the Heinlein Nexus web shell, not directly linked to the Forum. I am trying to plug the holes so that these back-door connections are redirected, but for now, DELETE your bookmark directly to the Forum and mark THIS page instead:

http://www.HeinleinNexus.org/

If you always enter this page and select the Forum from there, you'll have access to all the other Nexus features as well, along with more reliable Forum logins.

Messages sent from subscribed forums puts one directly into the Forum without going to Nexus First. Just thought I'd let you know.

It is working imperfectly. I have some of the direct-access attempts rerouted, but others get through and I don't know why. Off to ask some technical questions in a suitable forum.

I am having considerable issues with it. I left it in a tab on Firefox but several times when I returned I would type stuff and it never got posted. I would have to reload before it would work.

My two cents is that there isn't critical mass for specialized chat when people are so used to AIM or the like.
