This is not a review of Wonder Woman (although I liked it). There are enough of those to go around. This is about Chris Pine, who does a splendid job as the male lead. When I reviewed Star Trek Beyond, I noted how his Kirk performance was channeling William Shatner and give him props for the imitation skills.

Well, he's giving the same performance in WW. Which means that either Pine has decided that modeling The Shat is a winning acting career strategy (one could do worse), or that he has a narrow range that happens to overlap with a Shatner reincarnation. But see if you can watch this movie without seeing Shatner's Kirk mannerisms and especially, hearing the same voice (minus the famous pauses). Maybe he just forgot to turn off the switch after coming off Beyond.

I'm looking forward to when Wonder Woman hits amazon.com.

My wife and I gave up on going to theaters when the audience got just too damned rude. No one around here just shuts up and watches the movie anymore.

I thought the sets/locations, costumes and cinematography outshined(?) the plot, action sequences, dialog and acting. Gal Gadot is very pretty, and has an impressive back story, so I thought she was at least as good a casting choice as Chris Pine, whom I do like and thought was an excellent choice for this. But I give it a 6 overall. I just didn't care very much about any of the characters. David Thewlis kept my attention, not least because he's also the villain in the just-completed season of Fargo, and does just as excellent a job there, but thinking about that easily pulled me out of suspension of disbelief.

As for theater audiences, why do the ones who insist on texting throughout the movie always seem to sit in the front section where the entire rest of the audience has to see their annoying little white screens?? If you're not going to watch the movie anyway, go to the back row!!

Bah; humbug.
