Post Cars 0: the prequel?
I admit that I like Pixar's Cars quite a bit, for many reasons, even knowing that most Pixar fans rate it as one of the worst. (OTOH, they all rave about Nemo, which I find to be pretty ho-hum among Pixar's brilliant offerings.)

Anyway, one thing that's always bothered me is the... familiarity of Cars' plot. One more or less accidental link after another took to the plot summary of the 1991 film Doc Hollywood, starring Michael J. Fox. I read it.

<fx big light bulb coming on> Oh. Yeah.

Interesting connection between Doc Hollywood and this board, actually. The actress who played the love interest in Doc Hollywood, Julie Warner, also played the part of Mary (Sefton?) in the movie adaptation of The Puppet Masters.

I recall lusting after both her, and the Porsche Speedster in Doc Hollywood :)

Ah, you're right.

My preferences in Porsches are late-model asphalt-benders like the GT3 (and a long-time love of the original 930 Turbo), but a pretty 356 will certainly turn my head.

And then there was the time I pulled into a parking lot and there was a meticulously perfect, drop-dead, almost certainly replica 550 Spyder. I walked around it three times. Slowly. I could hear James Dean's footsteps behind me.

Well, I wouldn't say no if you were to gift me with a GT3...

I had the good fortune of living relatively near Zuffenhausen back in the 60's, and my father bought several cars from the factory. One for our family, several for friends he worked with, including one for the drummer of The Doors, whose father also worked as a contractor for the military.

We had a lovely '67 911, in british racing green. Unfortunately (or intelligently), my father sold it just before my brother got his learner's permit. A good family friend still has the 912 he bought at roughly the same time, which I'm still trying to convince him to sell to me.

Not to mention the cost of insurance :)

I'm fairly happy with my Prius, and if Aptera ever actually brings their vehicle to to market, I'm on the list for one of them. Maybe I'll call it "Gay Deceiver" despite the fact it isn't large enough, and to my knowledge won't come with any fifth dimensional space in it.

I am envious of your Mustang, though.
