Um, apparently this is serious: NASA is working on development of an Alcubierre Drive: http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-bu ... warp-driveI now know where I want any government surplus to be spent.

I recall Gerrold referred to them as the "doubletalk generators." But it turned out they might become real...
