Enjoyable fluff, with little of the drive of the first three -- new director. Depp is fun and quirky, as always. The mermaids were the best part of the film, according to my beloved wife. I tend to agree. I didn't miss Orlando and the Mrs. at all. Overall, repetitive, but not intolerably so. |

All I've seen so far are the trailers on YouTube. I never much followed the plots of the previous three. I disliked the first one when I saw it in the theater, but there may have been a couple of factors working: (1) I was stoned, and (2) I was pissed because most of the biggest scenes were done with computer animation that wasn't any better than the computer graphics on a game I purchased at a bargain bin years before for $5. As for II and III, probably have seen the full movies, but never all the way through at one sitting. What I enjoy about the movies is J Depp and the fruity way he portrays Capt. Jack Sparrow. Of course, I don't much follow plots anymore anyway. For instance, I enjoy both NCIS and Burn Notice, but whatever the plots are, sometimes I can't even tell you. I just like the actors and how they do their characters. |

I think the same about Johnny Depp, but even he couldn't rescue III for me. II was a monumental cheat ("Hey, guess what? We're not resolving a damn thing here, you'll have to wait two years and pay again for that") and III was monstrously turgid and uninspired. But the Jack Sparrow character is one for the ages. |

I don't remember much about 2, but I've seen 3 (I think it was 3, but could have been 2) in snatches on TV lately, and I liked it, although like I said, probably have not seen the whole movie the whole way through. Like I said, I watch TV the same way. If I followed an episode of NCIS all the way through, I'd probably stop watching it. That thing is dumber than Xena (which I loved, but face it.) |

All I know was I was visiting one time and my youngest granddaughter had one running on the TV. Might have been “Dead Man’s Chest”, but was not paying enough attention to know. My entire impression was it was the same seen over and over again. Let me with no interest in seeing any of them. Ed |
