Practical Wisdom
I am not finished with but I already love it to pieces. It really nails an issue that plagues American society in so many different places, yet is the same issue every time: the substitution of rules for good judgement. From teachers being forced to stick to standard scripts and tests, to judges constrained by sentencing "guidelines", and many other examples, it shows over and over, through example, explanation, and research, how wrong-headed we have become in trying to eliminate the human variable from situations requiring personal judgement. There are so many people I would like to beat over the head with it.
