Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
She's not the only one looking for a complete run of The Heinlein Journal. After she obtains one, I'd like to obtain one too. I've had searches set just about everywhere, but no hits yet. In lieu of a full set, I'll take individual issues with the hope of eventually assembling a complete set.
I can be reached at tom . kendall @ mostlyclassics . net (just remove the spaces).

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
There's a line forming.
I've been waiting for news of what happens now that Bill's gone. A subscription, plus a full order of back issues was on my "to do" list.
I'll watch this space, Bill.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
Hi, Dan --
My interest is strictly scholarly.
It's odd that you got that message. The website itself is devoted to matters philatelic. It did get hacked back in the summer of 2013, and my website host told me about it shortly after it happened. A complete reload of the website fixed the problem, and it hasn't recurred. I just rechecked it minutes ago.
What software gave you that message?

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
I tried to go to your Web site the first time from my work computer, and at work they insist on having the McAfee software turned on and won't let us turn it off, so I'll wait until I get home to look at the site. I'm sorry my report turned into so much work for you! I hope it feels worth it after McAfee corrects its misimpression of the site.
The "Reputation Coaching" flag caught my eye, too. I wondered why that would always be deemed malware. Maybe there are disreputable people out there who trash someone's reputation, then sell them services to correct the problem that they, themselves caused. I really have no idea.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
That "Reputation Coaching" flag baffled me too, Dan. Who knows?
It had been two years since I'd checked all the .html code, and it needed doing anyway. That's the file type the bad guys usually hit because it's so easy to modify.
It's too bad that you're stuck with McAfee on your work machines.

Hey, Dan, try www.mostlyclassics.net now. McAfee tells me I'm not one of the Bad Guys anymore.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
So to return to the subject, do you have any back issues of The Heinlein Journal?
Having become involved with this crowd rather late in the game, I have only issues 20, 22, and 23.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
I have what I believe to be a full run (11 issues, July 1997 to July 2007) but they're spoken for by Farah Mendelsohn, waiting for her to decide which shipping option she wants me to use.

Thanks for posting her request! I feel a twinge of sadness at parting with them, but she'll undoubtedly get better use out of them than I have/will.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
Dan, clearly she's the one who should get the set. BTW, didn't she contribute an article in the first issue? (I'm working off a faulty memory.)
If you ever hear of a set, or even a part set, I'm more than interested!

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
I have PDF scans of all issues 1 thru 23 except #18. Don't know what happened to that one.
I do not have any hard copy. I am ruthless about going paperless so most of these scans were made long ago by slicing the issues to go through a scanner and certainly aren't master copies.
I am unaware of the legality/ethics of sharing these digital copies and would be nervous about doing so. No requests please until someone can assure me of a sound basis for granting them. I think it would be great if, say, the issues could be downloaded by anyone for a small fee each with the money going to a Heinlein affiliation group that Bill supported, but I certainly don't have the cycles to pursue that.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
I totally agree, PeterScott. Legalities have to be respected: that, in part, is why I shelled out for the Virginia Edition. As far as funds are concerned, I'd be willing to put up with a large fee.
If you hear anything, please keep us posted.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
THS has .pdf versions of all issues--we are just waiting for the legality of using them as "back issues" and clarifying with the estate that we have the right to do so. Waiting is.
Kudos to Dan for stepping up in this case. I do have a full run myself, mostly paper format, but am not willing to part with them permanently.

Re: Prominent Scholar Seeks Issues of THE HEINLEIN JOURNAL
My two cents: Once the legalities are settled I would really love to see the complete set turned into a Kindle/Nook book and sold online for a "modest" price. They would get a lot more exposure and hopefully spawn more research and books on Heinlein.

Marie is hoping to have it "launched" on 7/7 but we have to iron out a few kinks with payment and ordering. If you are going to NASFiC look her up.
