Post Philadelphians Seek Historic Plaque for Asimov's Residence
Philadelphians are agitating for a historical marker to designate the spot where Isaac Asimov lived during World War II, while working for the Navy at the Naval Aircraft Factory-- having been recruited by Robert Heinlein for the job.

Asimov lived far longer in New York or Boston, but the argument goes that some of his most significant stories in the Foundation series and the positronic-robot series were typed in the City of Brotherly Love.

Here's a story in .

Here's .

where such SF luminaries as Gardner Dozois and Michael Swanwick speak about commemorating Asimov. It's rather charming.

In case anyone's wondering, Heinlein's addresses while he lived in Philadelphia:

Summer of 1942:
99 South Landsdowne Avenue
Landsdowne, Pennsylvania

After October of 1942:
311 South Hicks Street
Philadelphia 2, Pennsylvania

Apartments for rent 311 South Hicks Street.

A blazing 175 Square Fee for $750 a month!

And for 99 South Landsdowne we have this detail.
http://www.zillow.com/homes/99-south-la ... wne-pa_rb/
Includes some data about the individual units.

Both houses are viewable via Google Street View or Google Earth.
The Landsdowne House is best seen from overhead Google Earth.

This of course is true only if neither street has been renumbered in the intervening years.
