If you have a 3-D printer, you can make any small plastic object you can imagine, or whose designs you can download.

If you don't have a 3-D printer, the folks at Shapeways will be pleased to take your money, print out the thing you want, and send it to you.

Enter Max Grueter, a Shapeways vendor, who makes astronauts.

He'll sell you a set of nine spacemen in Destination Moon suits. That's enough crew for two Lunas, with one left over!

: $36.00

: $24.50

: $16.00

This is pretty wonderful.

Mr. Grueter can also manufacture other astronauts: Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, 2001, Vostok, Orlan, etc. Browse his site!

Nice find, beamjockey!

For folks interested in modeling the whole set in various scales, Pegasus Models makes the Destination Moon rocket ship Luna in 1:144 scale. Here's a review of the kit:

It's available on amazon.com for about $27.

Fantastic Plastic also kitted two versions of the Luna, in 1:288 and 1:48 scales. That latter scale would be HUGE: over 3 feet tall! I don't believe they're in production anymore. Maybe they could be found on eBay.

With lots of stills from the Destination Moon movie, plus modeling plaster, one could make a nifty and accurate scale model diorama.

I'm seriously tempted . . .

Not wanting to rain on that parade, it does make me wonder about copyright...
