Post subject:  Heinlein Rarity for Sale...

Hey, all - just making my rare appearance here. For those who don't know, I've relocated to Denver. My understanding is that I am only allowed to live in states beginning with "C" - and having now exhausted that list, I think I'll stay here.

Over the next few years I plan on getting rid of my Heinlein collection, which contains some fairly ordinary items, quite a few firsts and the like, some signed editions and a few extreme rarities. Partly because it's Christmas and someone may be searching for the ultimate gift and partly because it's unique in my collection, I have an item for immediate sale. (Many items fit into a group of some kind, and I intend to sell them as a group if possible. This one stands out.)

It's a copy of Stranger, an early paperback. Nothing much distinguished about the book itself; I suspect you could find the same edition on ABEbooks for a few dozen dollars at most. It's in relatively poor condition, with deep browning and a slight touch of brittleness. A booktiquarian could probably apply some restorative/preservative efforts to it, and it's worth it.

Because it's signed. Okay, even that doesn't make it exceptional - a signed paperback can be had for a few hundred from a variety of sources.

But this one - which comes with copious documentation and a signed history - was signed at the 1961 Worldcon, during the (in)famous "yellow bathrobe" sessions. It's a genuinely rare and significant piece of Heinleiniana, and I am the second owner, with a half-inch thick stack of material from WC1961 and the original owner who had it autographed.

I will probably list this more formally in the coming year, with pictures and details, but if anyone is looking for a killer RAH item, for self or gift, this could be it. Discussion and bids welcome, otherwise contact me directly at gd@nitrosyncretic.com.

Bids $2k and up suggested.
