Re: Stephanie Meyer
Joel Rosenberg used to threaten surly waiters and the like with: "I'm a writer. I can make you IMMORTAL."
I will never understand the recurrent fascination/obsession with vampires. I've tried and the wheels keep coming up W... T... F.

Re: Stephanie Meyer
I found vampires cool thirty years ago, I still like 'em, although my tastes run mainly to Christopher Lee.
There are worse things for kids to get into. Let's not nitpick.

Re: Stephanie Meyer
It's not as much the current tween/teen fascination with vampires as the episodic fascination by adults that I find... a little weird. I certainly have my odd tastes, but few of them are shared by the masses. That mass sway towards vampire-chic that peaks every 10 years or so is... well, weird.

Re: Stephanie Meyer
Jim, the late, great Christopher Reeves was all guy under his spandex, too.
Reading the comics I could never see what appeal Superman had. Reeves changed that permanently.
