I am interested to know how many of this Forum's members have read the Illuminatis! trilogy and their impressions-thoughts-reviews, good, bad and/or ugly.

It certainly has some elements of "speculative fiction" but is pretty far from anything that would relate to Heinlein. I personally loved Illuminatis! and reread it seven times, until I really grokked the whole construct and how the many, many threads of it are woven into a fantastic tapestry.

Since we're on the subject, same for Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow. I see parallels, how about you?

Last thing I read of Pynchon was that attempt at a detective novel, gave it up. Only other thing was The Crying of Lot 49, two or three readings.

I'm very fond of Pynchon, although more of the early stuff. Never found my way into Ill, even though I had a copy follow me around for a decade or so....
