Apparently SpaceshipTwo broke apart at 50,000'. Due to weight restrictions the pilots do not wear pressure suits, carry oxygen, or use ejection seats. They have only a parachute each. The survivor had to have free fallen under those conditions to pull a ripcord somewhere under 20,000'. Wow. |

Apparently video from inside the ship shows the cause to be pilot error: premature release of the feathering mechanism designed to bring the craft down safely after powered flight has ended. |
