Role of women in research
1960: The USA was reshaping the world through its incredible advances in science and engineering, none more so than in the ceramics and glass division of Corning Inc., where they were developing materials for rocket nose cones to protect them from the intense heat of reentry. See for some contemporary details of just how important women were to the American technological revolution.
Gives a great perspective on the environment Heinlein was living in and reacting against.

Sheesh.... :/ That was filmed the year before I was born, and it was a different world. I am *so* glad I wasn't born a generation or three sooner!
